24.01.2022 Re: Announcements. Nothing changes for the moment. We are still planning for Nov. 23rd. ... The Nov. 1st does not permit contact sport outdoors only non-contact that can keep 1.5 apart. Eg. Tennis. The Nov. 23rd date was always with an * but hopefully we are on target for it and because of our planning and registrations etc, we will be ready to go, even if it means it is Nov. 30th or whenever - as this also includes working with each venue management. So keep those registrations coming and we are optimistic to get you started for a Summer season... until then - enjoy the new found freedom, but still keep safe... you've earned it Melbourne!

24.01.2022 This was a game our Collingwood Magpies Netball young squad can be pleased with. They came out firing to be 8-0 up showing no signs of being fearful of the top placed cross-town rivals. Once again some great improved hands by Shimona, connections were working well and so much positive vibe (loving the high tens around the attack end to pump each other up) - and our defence just once again, an incredible display. While the chips are down and this year Pies have lost 5 starti...ng line up players either before the season or during it, giving a performance like this and the experienced gained, is invaluable. What did you think of the game? #gopies https://www.facebook.com//a.175934624429/2876803982544436/

22.01.2022 CALLING ALL FOOTY-NETBALL CLUBS SUMMER SOCIAL MIXED NETBALL Starts Nov. 23 After having to cancel your football and netball seasons, a season of social mixed netball is the perfect way to re-engage your Club members as you head into 2021 and get the guys and gals on court together.... At CitySide Sports we have a number of netball locations around Melbourne and a great Club Partnership Program where we work with some Metro Footy-Netty Clubs and Uni Clubs, which includes special club invoice packages. Braybrook Sporting Club - Est. 1874 have aligned with our Netball program for a couple of years now. Here's what President Rob Hutchison had to say: "Our netball program started at CitySide Sports for Braybrook Sporting Club and has since become dynamic to say the least. Many of our footballers now play netball whether that is via ladies or mixed teams. Players have formed social teams and included their partners, families and friends (from outside our Club). We are no longer a Football Club, we are a Sporting Club." For more information on our Club Program, email [email protected] for a copy of Information Pack. NETBALL LOCATIONS: Clifton Hill/Preston, Bundoora, Doncaster, Richmond, Footscray, Braybrook. * Program is also available for entering social volleyball teams.

18.01.2022 Wait... what?? It’s Wednesday?! Easy to lose track of days... it’s game day! Collingwood Magpies Netball vs. Lightning 7.30pm TONIGHT ON TELSTRA TV & NETBALL LIVE APP... Last meeting: Round 2 2020 Sunshine Coast Lightning 51 def Magpies 47 It’s the Indigenous Round of the 2020 Super Netball season and the Magpies are off to Townsville to take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning at the Entertainment Centre. All four matches in Round 13 will take place in far north Queensland for Indigenous Round. Keen to flip the result from Round 2 where Lightning got up by just four goals, the Magpies will need to come out all guns blazing like they did against the Melbourne Vixens on Saturday as they jumped out to a five-goal lead by quarter time. Conversely, Lightning suffered from a slow start against the Queensland Firebirds before running out eight-goal victors, in one of their more consistent displays this season. That could well spell danger for the Pies, as Lightning look to cement a top-two spot on the ladder and score themselves a double-chance come the finals. The Pies will need to replicate their 89% accuracy from last round (but perhaps shave off a few turnovers) if they’re to be in with a chance, as Lightning sit third for goals conceded, gains and for goal accuracy key stats that underline their position on the ladder. Last week our young side showed the can match it and there are exciting things to come. It’s just being able to sustain it. GEOFF’S TIP: I can feel a win is here. Magpies by 2! Who do you think will win, and why? Broadcast details Magpies v Sunshine Coast Lightning Wednesday September 16 7:30pm Live on Telstra TV and Netball Live app Replay on Netball Live and 9Now

17.01.2022 WEBSITE CLOSURE: Returns Nov. 4th Last week we called on our community for tablets (iOS or Android) and we were overwhelmed by the response. Many offers of very low prices for quality tablets and we have TWELVE offers to give us an unused tablet for free. Thank you everyone... and yes, we are still on the look out for some more In these COVIDSafe times, we are preparing to upgrade our check-in system for players with our own built QR check-in using these tablets and our AP...P, that will also form part of our player qualification system for finals. As such, we need to make some critical database upgrades - so we are taking advantage of the kind-of-sort-of long weekend and closing the website, and it will be back at some stage on Wednesday.

15.01.2022 Today it was hard to watch that press conference. We knew our sector would be one of the last... but November 23rd was gut-wrenching to hear. 11 more weeks, at a minimum. We really hope all our community are doing their best to stay active until we can get back out there again. We are aiming to update on what our own 'road map' will be in the first week of October, once we know a bit more on how our great city is travelling. ... Stay safe, take care!

13.01.2022 We are working with each venue with regards to spectators. Please note the following venue updates. Where spectators are permitted, we ask a common sense approach - and remind there are still venue limits on patrons especially for indoor venues (eg. don't bring the whole family down). NOTE: Spectators need to QR check in but not the same system as our mobile app, just their normal phone camera as per following directions:... CLIFTON HILL: Spectators permitted. All spectators must QR check in with the venue QR code from Mayors Park Tennis & Netball Cente by Yarra Council, located on the fence with your phone. RICHMOND: Spectators permitted. All spectators must QR check in with the venue QR code we have set up with Victorian Government system. BRUNSWICK, PRESTON, DONCASTER: Spectators permitted. Masks must be worn (indoor). All spectators must QR check in with the venue QR code we have set up with Victorian Government system. RESERVOIR & BRAYBROOK: Spectators permitted. Masks must be worn (indoor). All spectators must QR check in with the YMCA system. FOOTSCRAY: Spectators are not permitted unless a parent that needs to supervise underage or playing parents who need to bring children that cannot be supervised at home. Due to the process of players in and out, this is a VU Sport policy that we support to continue to make improvements on player movement in and out.
13.01.2022 Collingwood Magpies Netball vs. Melbourne Vixens TODAY @ 3PM LIVE ON 9 Last meeting: Round 1 2020... Vixens 63 def Magpies 52 Our opening match of this weird and wonderful 2020 season was against our cross-town rivals in the Melbourne Vixens. Shimona Nelson was still in quarantine, and while in touch for the majority of the match, the Vixens put the foot to the peddle in the last five minutes to run out 11-goal winners. In a way, it was a preview of what was to come. For the majority of matches this season, the Magpies have been in the hunt after the first three quarters. And last week against the Giants they showed they are more than capable to mix it with sides with far more experience. It was arguably the Magpies most consistent four-quarter performance for the season to date and recorded the team’s least number of turnovers since Round 4 against West Coast Fever in the process. Defensively, the stats have stacked up favourably all season. In the midcourt, there has been some forced changes however our younger brigade has stood up strong and will only be the better for the experience. Our attack end most importantly the connection on the feed - seems to be the key. Last round, we saw GS Shimona Nelson have her most outstanding game of the season and won the Magpies best on court. With strong holds and hands, and demanding the ball this kind of performance goes a long way to improving the connection with feeders feeling confident ‘Shim’ can take any ball, and it becomes essential the feeders reward her and give to her when she asks for it. We also saw some further experimentation in the goal circle by Coach Rob Wright, with Nyah Allen coming on for the Super Shot last 5-minute period of the 1st and 2nd quarters, and Emma Ryde for the 3rd and 4th quarter both replacing Shimona. Some questioned this decision given the performance she was having however, with Allen as a long shot specialist and Ryde able to take strong rebounds and pass back to GA Gabi Sinclair into the super shot zone, this provided Shimona quality rest time to ensure she could play a very strong 40-minute game. This match will be a great gauge of how much progress has been made of our young squad. Bring on The Battle! GEOFF’S TIP: I would love to see nothing more than a major upset but even I must give credit to the top side who besides some small hiccups, have dominated 2020. VIXENS by 6. (This is the first time I have officially tipped against the Magpies and I am hoping I am the jinx! #gopies) Who do you think will win, and why? 12.01.2022 #volleyball #netball So last time we were set to return we mapped out every fine detail.. and we know how that panned out. :( It is almost time for us to start preparing though. With the Victorian Government announcement that community sport will be able to recommence on Nov. 23rd with only limitations on spectators, we are hopeful we are headed in that direction.... This Summer, we are doing things a little different. We will run a short mini-season we've dubbed, 'Lightning Season' - running from Nov. 23rd to finals week Feb 8th-13th (the usual Christmas break will apply). We will then offer an Autumn SUPER SEASON - 24-weeks from February to July. All dates are tentative based on Government Guidelines and availability of each individual venue, of which we will be working closely with all venue management teams to coordinate a COVID-Safe return to play. And who knows, maybe the government will let us start even earlier hence registration opens early on Oct. 1st so that we are prepared to go as quickly as we can! More details to come as the weeks progress. #socialnetball #netballmelbourne #socialvolleyball #volleyballmelbourne
12.01.2022 Our dates have been updated for our upcoming Super Season! You can review the full dates at: www.citysidesports.com/dates ... The end of season Grand Finals for next season have not been changed. This means we have lost one round from the season (excluding Mondays).
11.01.2022 #volleyball We are on the look out for some 14-16 years old players for our upcoming season on Wednesdays at Braybrook. NOTE: This is an open age, open gender competition with at least 3 divisions. ... We have created a team with some players 14-16 and need a few more to finalise the team. * Our competition by-laws only permit players 14 years and older, so must be 14 to take the court. For more information on how to sign up and costs, please email: [email protected]
11.01.2022 #volleyball #netball As we prepare to hit the courts for some social competitive sport, no doubt there are many fears about your fitness and if you even remember how to catch, throw, shoot, set, serve etc We ask that players remind themselves that our match officials are in the same boat. Sure there have been online courses to take to keep themselves up to date... but that does not make up for 8 months of not practicing on court.... We always ask you respect the officials... but now more than ever. For many, their umpiring (& coaching) is their livelihood, and it's been hard on them too. So... let's all just enjoy being on court together and give the umps & refs are fair go! #netballmelbourne #volleyballmelbourne
10.01.2022 We are sad to announce that our already postponed Charity Tournament for Australia Day is being postponed, again. We apologise to anyone planning and looking forward to the event. A few factors went into this decision. There have been some venue issues trying to secure due to a couple of factors including COVIDSafe protocols. ... Also, as everyone would be aware our charity tournaments are rather large events where our staff and umpires volunteer their time. We have considered their welfare and our own. After a hectic re-start and a year where having any time away to refresh was not possible, we would be asking our staff to cut short any opportunity on that long weekend to have a break (many including some of management have not had an opportunity over the Christmas break), to instead operate and umpire the event. Finally, due to the timing of our re-start of competitions from COVID-19, we have not had the opportunity to promote this event as heavily as we would have normally and that it deserves. Registration for the March Tournament will open on February 1st. Thank you for your understanding.
10.01.2022 #netball #volleyball IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL CAPTAINS*: * excluding SFindit individual team captains... Please go to: www.citysidesports.com/user-registration CitySide Sports is upgrading our myTeam system and registration process and this includes a higher level of security as we will now be permitting online payments (as well as other features). Captains (& Vice-Captains) will need a User Registration Account in order to register teams and access the new myTeam system. Please use the same email you have on file if possible, so the registration process can link you with your current team/s you Captain. Club Captains (such as Richmond District, RMIT etc should also follow this process. Although your Club will register your team for you, it will allow you access to see qualified players etc). While not essential for you to do this prior to registration opening, it will make the process quicker and simpler for you if you do. Captains will also be sent a notification about this shortly. 09.01.2022 ZERO! What a great morning to wake up to. Here's hoping some exciting announcements are coming.. but if it helps Dan, we're willing to try out Bubble Netball & Volleyball! Remember... our Nov 23rd date is based on the government's initial modelling date which required Oct. 28th to be under 5, 14-day rolling... So here's hoping we keep on this trend! Way to go Melbourne! Keep it up!... REGISTER YOUR TEAM AT: www.citysidesports.com/team
07.01.2022 #netball #volleyball We are working hard on our COVIDSafe plans and being able to return to sport in November in Melbourne is exciting but essential it is done responsibly. With registration opening on Thursday for our 'Lightning Summer Season', you might want to know some of the steps we will be taking to ensure your safety and that we can all enjoy what we love with a lowered risk. This is a summary only and our more in depth COVIDSafe plan will be available as we get clos...er to competition. One of the big things we feel is appropriate is to significantly lower forfeit fees for Summer. It is essential that players notify their Captains when feeling unwell, and that if required a team forfeit without concern of a hefty fee. We cannot wait to get back out on court and see you all! #areyouready? #socialnetball #socialvolleyball #netballmelbourne #volleyballmelbourne #mixednetball
06.01.2022 ATTENTION: TEAM CAPTAINS The Game Fees section of your myTeam has important conditions of use. A bank transfer can only be done once per season and would normally be used for a full season pay. Please be mindful of this, as some teams this week have paid one game fee via Bank transfer - which is fine - but, you won't have this option again this season.... And please, please, please!! Put your reference in number correctly - not just your name or something like, 'netty fees'. Thank you :D
06.01.2022 So... all week I've been trying to work out the right words. As if a year of COVID was not bad enough for CitySide, today we officially lose (for now, at least) the much loved character of CSS, "Tom Tom". After studying the last few years and graduating, Tom is off to Canberra for an exciting career opportunity. Tom has played roles such as: Netball Umpire, Volleyball Ref, Umpire Supervisor, Umpire Manager, Venue Duty Manager and the unofficial role of Recruitment Officer.... In 2011 he was awarded our highest honour of Umpire of the Year, "The Golden Whistle". Many umpires with us now came to CitySide because of him. Whether it was having worked/umpired with him elsewhere and they wanted to join CitySide due to him convincing them of our great environment to work with, or they just wanted to hang with him more! And if you've ever played against Tom on a netball court... well, chances are he has probably annoyed you with his flapping arms from his exact 3feet and 1cm away from you - and you've likely thought, "I'm glad he umpires more than he plays". For 11 years we've all at CitySide basically watched him grow up and now he is taking the ultimate adult plunge of faith to move cities for a career. And while saddened to lose him we are also very proud of him. Tom is a character people are drawn to. Whether wanting to join CitySide to work with him, or attend pre-party with him before CitySide's Christmas Party and all turn up an hour late!!!!!!!!! And no Umpires - you're not all following him to Canberra!! Of all the photos I could have picked, from his peroxide blonde hair, to that orange stripe thing he once had - there were many odd ones to choose from. I chose this one though hopeful to draw attention to a CSS favourite leaving us for now... and share a much loved story... yes that Lemon is exactly what you think it is for and one of Tom's saying is, 'The last thing I remember was having a shot with Geoff!' Tom Tom... thank you for everything you have done for CitySide over the years. When Tom has been on duty all he has ever wanted is to make your experience better, whether as a player or staff member for the benefit of the culture of CitySide Sports. I will always be grateful. We cannot wait for you to gain the experience you need in Canberra and then make your way back to us! Good luck, Tom! - Geoff
06.01.2022 REGISTRATION IS OPEN - For teams.. For New Individuals we have had a slight delay and will have your part up and running on October 5th (Monday). TEAMS: Once you register for Summer, you will get the usual invoice. On that invoice if you have any credits, you will see like this image. Just click the green text and your credit will be applied. Credits are in place for any registrations paid for Autumn/Spring that did not go ahead, and any game fees paid in advance for the Summ...er 19/20 season. We are still working on the 'myTeam' page where you will be able to view your outlined credits and request refunds if required... and we hope to have that available from tomorrow 4pm.
06.01.2022 Collingwood Magpies Netball vs. Firebirds 1PM TODAY LIVE ON 9 Last meeting: Round 3 2020 Magpies 58 def Queensland Firebirds 54... One last match for the season! One more roll of the dice! There are fond memories of the last clash against the Queensland Firebirds given that it produced the only Magpies win of the season thus far. Trailing by as many as seven goals midway through the third quarter, the Magpies then reeled off 14 of the next 20 goals to take the lead and carry that momentum to victory. The next 10 rounds delivered a medley of results, and whilst the Magpies were on the wrong end of the scoreline, five matches were decided by eight goals or less. Not a bad effort for a side where only one player remains in the squad from last season. That player, co-captain Geva Mentor, has been a virtuoso all season, particularly with the absence of co-captain Madi Browne for the second half of the season. Mentor has spent the most time on court of any player in the league (777 minutes). The Firebirds are riding high, having won three of their last four matches, including scalps of finalists the NSW Swifts and Melbourne Vixens. While the season may not have gone to plan, there’s an opportunity for the Magpies to finish season 2020 on a high. GEOFF'S TIP: Magpies by 3! Who do you think will win? #gopies Broadcast details Magpies v Queensland Firebirds Saturday September 26 1pm Live on Channel 9 and Netball Live app Replay on Netball Live and 9Now

05.01.2022 It's been a crazy two weeks getting everyone sorted whether it be our Clubs, Teams or SFindit Individuals... I'm looking forward to not only seeing you all back on court soon - but also new announcements as they come that will hopefully cement that 23rd date - and the sooner all the managing staff can come back on board... In the meantime... if you're contacting us, it's just little ole me working, and I've had to make some new systems to handle the unusual circumstance to g...et everyone back on board (especially for our SFindit Individuals which is a doozy!) Due to this our phone lines will still stay closed for now and you can reach me here on our Facebook or via [email protected] which redirects to me. So thanks for your patience while I get everything back up and running. We're almost there, Melbourne! - Geoff.
05.01.2022 THE OFFICE IS BACK... WEDNESDAY, NOV 4TH Welcome back Amanda, Lea, Anti & Tim! Now that pubs will be open, staff will need a day or two to 'catch up'... then... ... We soft open the office from Nov. 4th via email only for all management staff... and then a full open from Nov. 6th when phone lines will open again (we will of course have a COVIDSafe set up including staff working from home and taking turns coming into the actual office when required). In the meantime, you can still catch me on via Facebook here or our [email protected] email which is forwarding to me... when I'm not at the pub :D CONGRATS MELBOURNE... YOU'VE EARNED IT.. But keep up the work as we want that Nov. 23rd date! - Geoff.
05.01.2022 As part of our COVIDSafe upgraded check in system for teams and player game recording, we require more tablets! We won't lie... COVID has been rough.. so we can't really afford to go all out on new tablets right now... so we are turning to our community! Do you have an old tablet lying around you don't use anymore? We will pay you for it.. just name your price and if it hits the mark, we're keen!... As long as the screen is in tack, and once set to factory reset works with a decent speed (it only needs to do one task).. and only needs to connect to wifi but if it has sim capability even better! Private Message our Facebook to make us an offer! :D
05.01.2022 Collingwood Magpies Netball vs. GIANTS TODAY @ 5PM ON TELSTRA TV & NETBALL LIVE APP Last meeting: Round 8 2020 Giants 69 def Magpies 54... Just four rounds to go! The season is flying by. Speaking of flying, the Magpies are just one of three sides to zip back and forth from Brisbane to Adelaide (in a matter of days), in what is already a compressed season. Not that the extra burden is an excuse for performance. Dusting off the loss to the Thunderbirds, again it is coming down to consistency. In the match for the most part it is those crucial errors at crucial times (this time in the last quarter), costing dearly. There is plenty of ball being won defensively (how awesome that Mentor has signed on for another season!), so the search is still on for the right combinations in attack to make the most of the hard-won opportunities. It was only 11 days ago that the Magpies last played the Giants. And whilst the start was great, the Giants were too powerful across the last three quarters. Giants mid-courter Keira Austin is having a breakout season, so she will need to be contained from the get-go. The Magpies have a huge opportunity to shape the top four over the coming weeks, facing the Giants, Vixens, Lightning and Firebirds across the last four rounds. The biggest question is, which Giants team will show up? They will be bitterly disappointed by some missed opportunities this year and currently sit 3-wins outside the top 4 with 4 games to go. This is a must win match. While the Pies can go in with nothing to lose and attempt to end the Giants season. GEOFF’S TIP: Magpies by 1. Who do you think will win, and why? Today was a big announcement. New easing set for Nov 22nd (midnight) will permit us to go ahead as planned on the 23rd HOWEVER, so far it seems these won't be completely confirmed until the 22nd. We will continue to plan for the 23rd and... set game times the week prior. Each competition is also dependent on the owner/management of the venue we hire from and we are working closely with them all to get you on court as quickly as possible.

04.01.2022 Collingwood Magpies Netball vs. Adelaide Thunderbirds TODAY @ 3.30PM LIVE ON TELSTRA TV & NETBALL LIVE APP Last meeting: Round 5 2020... Adelaide Thunderbirds 60 def Magpies 52 We’re off to Adelaide! Collingwood are the first away team to venture out of the Queensland hub and bound for South Australia, where the Thunderbirds will host matches over the next three rounds. Last time we met, Adelaide got the jump early, leading by as much as 13 goals in the first half. But in true Magpies fashion, the margin was reeled back in and reduced to as little as four in the last quarter. A famous comeback was almost completed, before the Pies fell by eight in the end. South African Lenize Potgeiter shot 39/39 100% in that Round 5 clash, meaning Geva Mentor (who leads the competition in Deflections) and Jodi-Ann Ward will need to bring their A-game. Gabi Sinclair sits second for Super Shots, but the Magpies can’t rely on that to win matches and all eyes will be on the shooter circle which has been a little more experimental the last two rounds. With Madi Browne’s immediate retirement and sister Kelsey to miss the remainder of the season, the midcourt stocks are looking a little thinner, but Molly Jovic and Mel Bragg in particular have been consistent and Magpies welcome to the squad, Tyler Orr from SA. If the attack end can tap into a more free-flowing rhythm, the Magpies are a chance for win on the road-road. Controlling and treasuring turnover ball is essential though! While the team this week are handling the retirement of Madi there has been some good news on what has been a tough season, that Geva Mentor has confirmed her position with the Magpies for 2021. GEOFF’S TIP: Magpies by 3 in a ‘This one’s for you, Madi’ win. Who do you think will win?
